Salahuddin Ahmed no more

Dhaka, July 30 (bdnews24.com) – Former defence secretary Salahuddin Ahmed has passed away. He was 87.

His son, Khaled Salahuddin told bdnews24.com, "My father breathed his last on Saturday at 11am at Square Hospitals, where he was undergoing treatment."

According to Khaled, Ahmed's burial will take place on Sunday evening at Banani graveyard. Before that, his namaz-e-janaza will be held at Rajarbag Police Line mosque after johar's prayer.

He said his father's body will be kept at his residence until 11am for people to pay their last respects.

Following a stroke at his Shiddeswari residence on July 26, Ahmed was admitted to the Square Hospitals. He had to be given life support as his condition deteriorated.

Since his joining in the Pakistan Police Service in 1952, Ahmed handled several important assignments, including the deputy inspector general of police. He retired from active services in 1983.

Before joining the government service, he worked as lecturer at the economics department of Dhaka University.
