Mymensingh, July 29 (bdnews24.com) — At least 50 have been injured in a clash between two factions of ruling Awami League at the Gafargaon railway station.
Clash erupted between followers of Gafargaon MP Giasuddin Ahmed and Upazila chairman Fahmi Golandaz Babel on Friday afternoon as they arrived at the station. Both groups were heading towards Awami League's workers' meeting at Mymensingh Circuit House.
The police charged batons to disperse the crowd and at one point fired rubber bullets. At least 10 policemen were injured with the brickbats hurled by Awami League members.
Gafargaon Police Station officer-in-charge Omar Faruk told bdnews24.com he had also been injured in the clash.
A case was filed in this connection, he said.
